— What to do?
If after issuing tickets you find an error in the spelling of a passenger’s last name, first name or middle name, you should immediately send a request to our Customer Care from your account on the website or app. In some cases we may be able to cancel your order with minimal loss.
In case the order cannot be canceled, we will offer you options for further actions depending on technical capabilities and airline rules.
Kupi.com service fee will be charged for ticket reissue due to data correction. It can be higher if the purchase was made from a third-party service, such as Aviasales, Scyscanner and others. Airline penalty may be charged additionally, if it is stipulated by fare rules.
— Is it necessary to correct the error?
Sometimes, if the error is minor and does not change the sound of the name, in most cases it is allowed to make a remark in the booking without reissuing the ticket.
In case of more serious errors, especially in tickets for international flights, it is recommended to reissue or cancel the ticket and then buy a new one.
The unspoken rule of “three mistakes to be allowed on a flight” is not officially backed up by anything, and you should not rely on it. We recommend that you protect yourself and reissue your ticket so that you won’t encounter any difficulties at the airport.
Additionally, you can call your airline before making a request for an adjustment: you may be allowed to fly on a ticket with an error, and this will save you unnecessary expenses.
— Is it possible to change the name on a ticket if it is completely different?
This adjustment is not possible with most airlines. You will not be allowed on a flight with a ticket in someone else’s name or surname, so the only way is to return the ticket, if it is allowed by the fare rules.
Exceptions
✔ Change of surname in case of marriage or divorce, which occurred after the purchase of the ticket. In such cases, many airlines allow the change with the payment of a fine to the airline, and a Kupi.com service fee will also be charged.
